It seems that I am a dunderhead and am not completely familiar with how this all works. I have been an avid reader and admirer of all of you. I read well but do not write. I am also a bit shy. I am sorry to have caused problems. Please give advice on what I should do. Thank you.

Well, hello! Come on over and say that on my post. We've been gossiping about you!

Thank you

for making me feel welcome. Perhaps I will not be too shy to post comments on all the lovely fics from now on.

Yay! We're talking.

Never ever ever ever ever ever ever let shyness prevent you from leaving a review. Most of us (including me) are absolute review junkies and every single one (apart from the occasional flames) brightens our day considerably.

Also, if you see a post on here that you agree/disagree/have advice about/laugh at loudly then comment! It's all a bunch of gossiping women. One makes new friends through commenting, you see.

I'll second that. Reviews are the things that keep me writing when my inspiration and motivation are flagging and weak. Even if it's just one word, never be shy about chiming in about a fic.

On that note then, I can't wait for Chapter 54 of your story.

Oh, we were just a little weirded out. Nothing serious.

I think it helps to leave a comment or two on people's journals, though, and ask to "friend". Almost everyone will say yes enthusiastically. I'll add you to my list now.

Oh, but you did it so well...! ;-)

It seems there's quite a few of us on line at the moment, so don't be shy. There's absolutely no need at all.

Why don't you take your courage in your hands and write something about who you are and why you've started an LJ, so we can make you feel more welcome.

It's not unusual to just friend people without comments, never fear. You just happened on a bunch of chatty divas here, who insist on being introduced properly (points at Camillo and other soon-to-be BNFs). ;) I found some very interesting lj friends who just friended me, and I didn't know where they came from. I read their posts, they read mine, and eventually chatter ensued. There is no set rule for lj behaviour.

In general, it's a good idea to look at people's user info. Most leave a note about their friending policy. In mine, it says, for instance, that you can friend away, but that I appreciate a brief note as to why. But if they don't... no big deal. Others, mostly the very popular writers, will have other notes. If someone doesn't have a note about friending at all, they shouldn't complain about being friended and not approached. ;)

Joining a community or five is also always a good way to find like-minded people and make friends. You can look at the flists of people you like, and see where they hang out.

Thank you again for the welcome. I'll poke around a bit now to see what I can find.

yep, a comment will usually ensure a friending back.

So sorry. I will try to do that from now on as I've been lurking for a while now reading all the lovely fic.

~waves~ Hello! You didn't cause problems, just some speculation. (Which is pretty much par for the course around here. ~grin~) Welcome to LJ!

*waves* Hi! :-)

Being shy is OK! I was shy ... once. ;-) Then I got pulled into the whole LJ thing, and then I got into commenting and reviewing, and then I got into writing... I have no idea what it'll all end with! *grins*

Being shy isn't a problem. So you seem to be a HGSS addict, just like me. I'll friend you back, but I'm looking forward to learn more about you. If your LJ is to be mainly f-locked, it'd be a good idea to expand your profile a bit, if only to let people know you like fanfiction, especially HGSS fanfiction.

Waves. :) I know how intimidating all these lj people can be when someone is new to it. You never know where to talk, who is accessible, who wants to be left alone and all that. But with Camillo around, you had the best introduction already. Just ask if something seems weird, we've all been in your shoes.

Hi! I've been away from a week and a bit, and have only just had a look at my own profile... to discover I have a new friend.

Popped over here to say hello, and to friend you back if you would like!
